WTware Lite vs. WTware PRO
WTware releases two products: WTware lite
and WTware PRO.
Freeware WTware lite is supposed to become an alternative to computer upgrade.
Its main limitation - screen resolution at most 800x600 - is meant for 15" CRT displays.
WTware PRO is a commercial Windows-terminal without any limitations.
WTware Lite features:
- Boot by network, from IDE CDROM, IDE hard disk, IDE DiskOnModule, USB flash-disk.
- Connect to Windows 2000 Server, Windows 2003 Server, Windows XP terminal servers.
- Any PC can be used as a terminal, even 486th 8Mb RAM.
- Screen resolution up to 800x600, color depth 8, 15, 16 or 24 bit,
screen frequency refresh can be configured.
- DIN and PS/2-keyboards, COM and PS/2-mouses can be used.
- LPT-printer can be connected to the terminal, and any computer in the network can use it.
- WTware terminal client includes four video driver libriaries: SVGAlib 1.4.3, SVGAlib 1.9.23, Linux 2.4.32 Framebuffer, X.org 6.8.2.
All common video cards are used.
WTware PRO additional features:
- Using any supported by video card and driver screen resolution.
- USB-keyboards and USB-mouses can be used.
- USB-printers also can be connected to the terminals.
- Access to terminal floppy, CDROM and USB-disks both from the server and from all computers in the network.
- Using serial bar-code scanners.
- Using smart-cards.
- Some configuration file parameters are available only in WTware PRO.
